October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Ceremony September 30th, 2023
8pm Easterlin’s Bandstand

The color purple has come to symbolize Domestic Violence Awareness Month during October, serving as a beacon of hope and support for survivors and their allies. To show our support and raise awareness, we ask our friends, local businesses, and neighbors to shine purple light bulbs on their front porches to demonstrate the power of community and solidarity.

Pick up your own purple light bulb today at the Andersonville City Office for a $6 donation. Cash and check accepted in person, or use the links below to pay online before picking up. Processing fees apply for online payments.

Flush Out Violence

Starting October 1st
– make your donations now to nominate your neighbors! –
CALL (229) 947-2305

Around Andersonville and the surrounding neighborhoods during the month of October, you’ll find purple potties making a statement in people’s yards, each one symbolizing a commitment to flush out violence from our community. Participants can donate to have these eye-catching purple potties moved from one yard to another, fostering a sense of unity as the potty travels through the community. It’s a whimsical yet powerful reminder that when we stand together against violence, we can flush it out together.

Did You Receive a Purple Potty?

Call the Purple Potty Squad at (229) 947-2305 to choose your donation level. Cash and check donations are accepted at Andersonville City Office, or use the links below to pay online. Processing fees apply for online payments.

Donations not required – potty will be removed within 3 days.

Raising Hope, One Helping Hand at a Time

Hands of a Warrior is the outreach by the Sheppard Pride Community Center Volunteers to make a profound difference in the lives of victims of abuse and other circumstances beyond their control. The Sheppard Pride Community Center was established by the City of Andersonville in 2023. With a deep commitment to provide support to vulnerable families, the Sheppard Pride Community Center volunteers organized Hands of a Warrior. We firmly believe that together, we can make a lasting impact on families in and beyond our own community, giving them a brighter, more hopeful future.

We host a variety of engaging and impactful events throughout the year, each designed to create community involvement, demonstrate solidarity, and raise essential funds for organizations and programs dedicated to helping families. By participating in our events, donors and supporters actively contribute to the wellbeing and empowerment of families, ensuring they receive the resources they need to thrive.

With every event we host, we get one step closer to a world where a lack of resources and support no longer creates victims but instead warriors, resilient and ready to conquer life’s many challenges. Stand with us, lend a hand, and be part of the change – because Hands of a Warrior is about believing in the power of collective compassion to transform lives.

Your Support, Their Strength.
